Blu Gorilla is owned by Alyx Baranow and Tim Dennis and they are proud to have won Charleston’s best tattoo shop 8 years in a row!

We are professionally operated with hospital-level sterilization techniques. Blu Gorilla is fully licensed, inspected and approved by DHEC, and the City of Charleston.

Alyx Baranow

For me, art has always been a means to push boundaries and bring into existence visual interpretation of the human experience. They say you never work a day in your life as long as you are doing what you love. When Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans, relocating to Charleston and opening up Blu Gorilla was a no brainer and an adventure of a life time. I feel very lucky to have been a witness to many of our clients joys, pains and simple silliness throughout these years. And as always, I appreciative my crew of talented artists and hard working office help. Currently I am balancing other creative projects as well as running the back end of Blu and therefore have decided to keep office off location.
